About the Job

The General Manager is accountable for the overall performance, risk, growth, and profitability of the business. The GM is expected to maintain a high-quality and sustainable loan portfolio, deliver the approved P&L and budget, protect liquidity, strengthen customer experience and market presence, and ensure that the institution operates within approved risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and Board-approved strategy.

Responsibilities

Own and manage overall portfolio quality, ensuring PAR, arrears, and credit risk remain within approved appetite.
Deliver the annual budget and P&L, driving revenue growth, cost discipline, and sustainable profitability.
Direct end-to-end microfinance operations, from customer acquisition through disbursement, servicing, and collections.
Ensure full regulatory, AML/CFT, and KYC compliance, and resolve audit and risk findings within agreed timelines.
Manage liquidity, cash flow, and funding sources to support disbursements and maintain prudent leverage.
Lead business development and market expansion, driving customer acquisition, cross-selling, and commercial targets.
Champion digital lending initiatives, partnering with technology teams to strengthen decisioning, automation, and controls.
Translate Group strategy into actionable operating plans, budgets, and execution milestones.
Build and lead a high-performing management team through clear KPIs, coaching, and succession planning.
Deliver accurate, decision-ready reporting to the Group CEO and Board on performance, risk, and strategic execution.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Banking, Commerce (B.Com) or a related field
7+ years of progressive management experience
Professional qualification/training in credit, finance, risk, banking, or microfinance
Meaningful leadership experience in microfinance, banking, digital lending, or SACCOs
