Inventory Accountant Position
Aventus - Lend Plus is a FinTech company in Kenya that offers a quick, secure, and convenient way to borrow money through its mobile app. Launched by the Aventus Group in 2021, Lend Plus leverages well-developed technology and smart client verification processes to provide loans to customers within minutes via M-PESA.
Job Purpose
The Inventory Accountant will oversee inventory, procurement, and asset control processes within Aventus. The role is responsible for sourcing, acquisition, tracking, safeguarding, and reconciliation of company inventory and assets while strengthening internal controls and supporting cost efficiency. The position will work closely with finance, IT and operations teams to ensure proper governance and accountability of Aventus resources.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for company assets, equipment, and operational consumables, including sourcing, quotation analysis, support supplier evaluation, selection process and cost comparison.
- Maintain and update an approved supplier list, ensuring that only suppliers who meet Aventus’ compliance, quality, and operational requirements are engaged and that all procurement documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with internal controls.
- Verify supplier deliveries against invoices and procurement records while working with Finance for timely payment processing and supplier reconciliation.
- Oversee inventory management by maintaining accurate stock records, monitoring stock levels, and conducting periodic physical counts and reconciliations.
- Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register, including asset tagging, tracking, depreciation, write-offs, and disposals.
- Coordinate IT asset issuance during onboarding and asset return during offboarding, ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation.
- Investigate and report inventory variances, asset damages, or losses, and recommend corrective action.
- Monitor procurement, inventory, and asset transactions to ensure proper approvals, documentation, and compliance with internal procedures.
- Prepare monthly inventory and procurement reports, including variance analysis and cost-saving recommendations.
- Identify procurement and asset-related risks and implement measures to minimize financial losses and operational exposure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- CPA Part II or equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage.
- Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience in procurement, inventory accounting, or asset management
